EuroLUG was founded of 26th of September 2009 by 6 European AFOLs and Jan Beyer (Community Manager, The LEGO Group) with the main purpose of bringing very active and capable AFOLs and Event organizers together to share knowledge and to support other LUGs around the world in creating better and bigger events.
Gradually over time the purpose and also the staff (no official involvement by LEGO Group employees anymore) and membership of EuroLUG changed, so today the main purpose of EuroLUG is to organize the annual Skærbæk Fan Weekend (former LEGO Fan Weekend) in Denmark.
Of course EuroLUG members also participate in many AFOL events around the world and support through that the worldwide AFOL culture and activity and members are also meeting online and offline on a regular basis. They are also often part of the organization teams from AFOL events.
Through the Skærbæk Fan Weekend EuroLUG provide a unique base for the global AFOL community to meet in great surroundings in a more informal way to exchange knowledge and ideas, show the latest state of the art MOCs, make new and keep existing friendships and have fun.
In addition to this, the Skærbæk Fan Weekend is an event where the public audience can interact with AFOLs while browsing the MOC exhibition and various activities.
The Skærbæk Fan Weekend is thus an event with a public exhibition, workshops, and social interaction for the AFOLs – it takes place every last full weekend of September at Skærbæk Kursus og Fritidscenter which provides adequate facilities such as cabins during the stay, halls for display and other activities, dining facilities, and room for the AFOL night.
With your registered participation at the Skærbæk Fan Weekend you also can register for EuroLUG membership – go here for additional info and registration.
